Frisson

Private electronic music experiences in Johannesburg, built around sound, space and long-form listening.

What Frisson is

Frisson is an invitation-only electronic music brand based in Johannesburg. Each gathering is built around a single idea: remove the interruptions that usually define a night out, and give music, people and place enough time to connect. Sets run long-form rather than as a sequence of names. Rooms are chosen for industrial character and acoustic quality. Attendance is kept small enough that participation matters more than performance.

The brand extends beyond events into The Vault, a running editorial on sound and space, and a print and digital magazine documenting the thinking behind the work.

Sound with room to unfold, space with purpose, and a small community present for the same reason.

How access works

Frisson does not sell tickets publicly. Invitations move through a tiered access-code system and a community interest channel on WhatsApp. Joining the interest group is the way to follow announcements. It does not reserve admission. This structure is a deliberate part of the brand, not a scarcity tactic layered on afterward.
